이태원영화제(Itaewon Film Festival, ITF)는 영화 속 다양한 목소리를 조명하며 해방, 자유, 소속, 정체성, 공동체에 대한 질문을 탐구하는 서울 기반 국제 영화제이다. 2026년 제2회 영화제는 Home of Liberation이라는 슬로건 아래, ‘해방과 자유 그리고 포용성의 범위’에 대한 담론을 확장하고자 한다.

ITF는 단순한 영화 상영을 넘어 다음과 같은 목적을 지닌다.

• 다양한 배경과 국적의 영화인들에게 열린 플랫폼 제공
• 지역 기반 영화제가 국제 관객과 직접 연결될 수 있는 구조 구축
• 해방촌·용산 지역 예술 생태계와의 유기적 협력 강화
• 창작자와 관객이 안전하고 포용적인 환경에서 자유롭게 의견을 교류할 수 있는 커뮤니티 공간 조성
• 문화적 다양성과 정체성의 다층적 스펙트럼을 조명하는 국제적 담론 형성

특히 이번 2026년 행사에서는 페루 대사관과의 협력을 통해 페루의 영화, 예술, 문화를 집중 조명함으로써, ITF의 국제적 확장성과 문화 교류 플랫폼으로서의 역할을 더욱 강화하고자 한다. 이를 통해 특정 지역과 문화권을 심층적으로 소개하는 ‘집중 조명 프로그램’을 운영하며, 국가 간 문화적 대화의 장을 마련할 예정이다.

The Itaewon Film Festival (ITF) is a Seoul-based international film festival dedicated to highlighting diverse voices in cinema and exploring themes of liberation, freedom, belonging, identity, and community. Under the 2026 slogan Home of Liberation, the 2nd edition of ITF seeks to deepen the discourse on liberation, freedom, and the evolving scope of inclusivity.

ITF aims to move beyond film screenings and serve as a cultural platform with the following objectives:

• To provide an open platform for filmmakers of all backgrounds and nationalities
• To demonstrate how a locally rooted festival can directly connect with international audiences
• To strengthen collaboration with the local arts ecosystem in Haebangchon and Yongsan
• To create a safe and inclusive environment where artists and audiences can freely exchange ideas
• To foster international dialogue on cultural diversity and layered identities

For the 2026 edition, ITF will collaborate with the Embassy of Peru to present a special focus on Peruvian cinema, art, and culture. This partnership will expand the festival’s international engagement and create opportunities for meaningful cross-cultural exchange through a dedicated country focus program.
